Though on vacation between legs of the Allman Brothers Bands summer tour, Warren Haynes has kept busy. Sunday the guitarist joined Leslie West and Corky Laing during Mountains 35th anniversary performance at Farmingville, NYs Brookhaven Amphitheater. Halfway through the groups set, Haynes emerged adding guitar to Never In My Life, Politician, Sunshine of Your Love and Crossroads. West also jokingly thanked Haynes for his guitar lesson. The Govt Mule leader returned during Mountains encore, which included runs through Roll Over Beethoven and Whole Lotta Shakin. Mountain and Govt Mules similarities run deep. Both are blues-based rock-and-roll power trios who have suffered the untimely death of their bassist. Haynes has also covered Mountains Mississippi Queen on occasion over the years.
