On Friday July 29 Wavy Gravy will host ChetFest: A Tribute to the life of Chet Helms. The event will take place at San Franciscos Great American Music Hall with proceeds to benefit the Helms family. Slated to participate are numerous musicians including Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, T Bone Burnett, David Nelson, Bobby Vega and Big Brother and the Holding Company. Helms, who passed away on June 25, founded Family Dog Productions, managed Big Brother and produced some of the earliest multi-media musical events at the Fillmore and Avalon Ballrooms. The $50 admission price also included a package of limited edition posters designed by such artists as Stanley Mouse, Jim Phillips, Wes Wilson, Chuck Sperry, Lee Conklin, Chris Shaw, David Singer, Arlene Owseichik, Rapahel (WasBob) Schnepf and Alton Kelley.
