Buddy Miller has invited a range of friends and enthusiasts to join him on his forthcoming self-titled album. Buddy Miller, which will be released by New West Records on September 11, is the first solo effort from the artist since 2011’s acclaimed The Majestic Silver Strings. Miller, who took home Lifetime Achievement honors at the 2022 Americana Awards is not only a musicians’ musician but has passionate fanbase that has long been anticipating the new record. His most recent studio album was 2023’s In the Throes, Miller’s critically lauded fourth collaboration with his wife Julie Miller.

Buddy Miller, which features 12 songs, was produced by the artist, recorded by Mike Poole, and mixed by Miller and Alasdair MacKenzie. The array of guest musicians on the record includes: Emmylou Harris, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, The War & Treaty, Jim Lauderdale, Lee Ann Womack, Shawn Colvin, Ashley Monroe, Elizabeth Cook and Dan Penn. Miller also is joined by Fred Eltringham (drums, percussion), Viktor Krauss (bass), Tim Lauer (keyboards), and Steve Fishell (pedal steel) throughout the recording.

The McCrary Sisters appear on multiple tracks, including the album’s opener, “As Long As I Have You” which were are premiering today. Miller notes, “This is the first of several songs featuring my friends, The McCrary Sisters. I first heard them in 2002 at the Belcourt Theater, where they were singing behind Isaac Freeman, the late, great bass voice of the Fairfield Four, with Mike Henderson on guitar. A year later, when I started writing Universal United House of Prayer, singing with the McCrarys became the goal.”
