Tomorrow night, a number of musicians will join Toots and the Maytals for an appearance on Saturday Night Live. These guest players all collaborate with the group on its True Love disc which will be released on Tuesday. Announced guest artists include Bootsy Collins and the Roots (who perform the classic ‘Funky Kingston’ on the new disc) as well as Ben Harper (‘Love Gonna Walk Out On Me’). Other musicians who appear on True Love include Trey Anastasio (‘Sweet and Dandy’), Eric Clapton (‘Pressure Drop’- which Toots played at the 2004 Jammys with Dr. John and the New Orleans Allstars) and Keith Richards (‘Careless Ethiopians’). The group will follow up this appearance with a tour that carries the band across the US and also to Australia and Europe.
