The Blues Traveler spring tour pushed out into New England over the weekend. Following two shows at New York’s Irving Plaza a few days earlier (with Chris Barron performing a tweener set on the 23rd and also contributing vocals to ‘Sweet & Broken’ and ‘Bagheera’), BT performed at the Pearl Street Nightclub in Northampton, MA on Saturday and Tuxedo Junction in Danbury, CT last evening. The Tuxedo Junction gig blended some newer compositions (the debut of ‘Unable To Get Free’) and older songs (the show opened with with ‘Dropping Some NYC’ with ‘Gina’ following in short order). The first set closed with a version of Steve Miller’s ‘The Joker’ with guest performers Aaron Beavers and Rich Mahan from opener Shurman on vocals and guitar during which John Popper offered a vocal sampling of other artists including lines from Tom Petty, Deborah Harry and the musical Grease. Traveler is off tonight, en route to the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL for a show on Tuesday.
