While the New Deal has announced a temporary touring abatement, another band has revealed that it will return to the stage at the end of the year. T.J. Kirk will reunite for a pair of shows at the Great American Music Hall on December 26 and 27. The quartet, comprised of Charlie Hunter, Will Bernard, Scott Amendola and John Schott released two discs in the mid-90’s before moving on to other endeavors (the second of these If Four Was One received a Grammy nomination in the Contemporary Jazz category). T.J. Kirk thrived as a compelling cover band, focussing on the music of the triumvirate that supplied the band’s name: *T*helonious Monk, *J*ames Brown and Rahsaan Roland Kirk.
