moe.s Al Schnier has firmed up plans for a brief tour with his side project, Al & the Transamericans. The line-up features bassist Erik Glockler (Strangefolk), drummer Vinnie Amico (moe.), pedal steel guitarist and banjoist Gordon Stone and keyboardist Kirk Juhas (Freebeerandchicken). The group will play this Saturday at moe.down, although Mitch Getz (of Al.one fame) will fill in on bass, as Glockler will be busy performing with Strangefolk at the Garden of Eden Festival. The Transamericans kick off their fall run next Thursday, September 4 at Nietzsche’s in Buffalo, NY. The itinerary also includes dates along the East Coast in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey and New York. On September 11th, the band will perform at The Funk Box in Baltimore. All fire fighters, police officers, EMTs and paramedics are welcome free of charge in honor of the anniversary of 9/11.
In mid-October Schnier will play a few solo acoustic shows opening for Reid Genauer & the Assembly of Dust. Stay tuned for details.
