The Recipe welcomed special guests to the stage during its headlining set Saturday at the 4th annual Recipe Family Cookout in Terra Alta, WV. Keller Williams (mouth trumpet), The Davidson Brothers Chris Davidson (acoustic slide guitar) and Bluestrings Brad Thomas (saxophone) and Nick Prince (percussion) joined the band for an extended version of Rise towards the end of the show.
The Recipe is currently in the process of relocating to Asheville, NC. This fall the band plans to host Recipe and Friends Monday Nights, a weekly series that will be held at the Asheville Music Zone. Nationally touring acts routing through the area as well as local musicians will join The Recipe each week. A full announcement is expected next week.
In other news, the band will spend November and December working on its next studio album, due in February. The CD is titled Jubilee, after the song Davies Jubilee, which will feature special guest Vassar Clements on fiddle.
The group plays next on September 5 at Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA. For more dates, visit the official website.
