Former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux and her five- piece band have just announced a string of concerts and appearances through July. In the first half of the month they will play a handful of shows on the East Coast with Mark Karan (Bob Weir and Ratdog) filling in for regular guitarist Jeff Mattson, including stops at Gratefulfest in Ohio and a show at the Iridium in New York (Mattson is currently touring with Dark Star Orchestra). On July 7 Donna Jean will take a night off from the band to speak at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, which has a Grateful Dead exhibit running through December. At the end of the month she’ll head out to California for more shows with the band, including a stop at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. Longtime Grateful Dead associate Mookie Siegel will play keys with the group at Sweetwater as well as the band’s stops at Santa Rosa, CA’s Last Day Saloon and Winters, CA’s Palms Playhouse.
