Last night at Austin, Texas’ Emo’s, Warren Haynes continued his tour with his Ashes & Dust band featuring string outfit ChessBoxer and drummer Jeff Sipe with a sit in from a longtime friend and collaborator of Haynes.

The one-set show included Allman Brothers Band tunes “Jessica” and “Instrumental Illness” mixed in with Ashes & Dust tracks like “Company Man” and “Coal Tattoo” and covers of Bob Dylan’s “One More Cup of Coffee,” The Band’s “Ophelia” and an instrumental take on Jimi Hendrix’s “Machine Gun.”

When the band returned to the stage for the encore, they were joined by Big Sugar guitarist Gordie Johnson, who helped them finish off the performance with another Bob Dylan tune, “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” and the traditional “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” Johnson produced Haynes’ 2011 album Man In Motion as well as the Gov’t Mule releases High & Mighty, By a Thread and Shout!.

Haynes will continue his tour tonight at the House of Blues in Houston, TX.
