Today, John Medeski, Billy Martin, Scott Metzger and Nels Cline announced that they’ll perform at New York’s Sony Hall following Phish’s New Year’s show at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 30. The four artists haven’t performed together live in four years. The reunion is set to be one of the most exciting after-parties for Phish’s beloved New Year’s tradition.
The last time they united marked the first-ever collision of Medeski Martin Metzger Cline and was also an after-party for Phish NYE back in 2019. Notably, the performance also took place at the very same venue.
Frequent and longtime collaborators Medeski and Martin are sure to bring their impressive and abstract percussion prowess to the mix; Metzger, who is known for his jazz chops and work with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, is set to add his improvisational style over the backbeat. Guitarist and composer Cline, known for his work with Wilco, is also no stranger to jazz and collaborating closely with a percussionist having often played jazz with his twin brother Alex.
Tickets go on sale to Friday at 10 a.m. and a pre-sale is live with code mmmc. Learn more and find tickets here.
