Phich kicked off an eight-show spring tour at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena last night. The show marked the group’s first appearance in the city since 2014. The night opened with a creative run from “Blaze On” into “Plasma” before looping back into “Blaze On.”  Then, the quartet offered the night’s rarest song, “Vultures,” which is typically only played once or twice a calendar year. After “Sample in a Jar” and “Ya Mar,” the band closed their first set with a continuous sequence from “Steam”  into “My Friend, My Friend,” “Walls of the Cave,” and “Ghost.” (Mike Gordon also debuted his new Serek bass, which be previewed on social media.)

The second set opened with 20-plus minute version of Trey Anastasio’s “A Wave of Hope” and then moved into the sing-along “Bouncing Around the Room.” From there, Phish offered a segue from “No Men In No Man’s Land” into TV on the Radio’s “Golden Age,” “Martian Monster” and “The Wedge.” A movement from “Bug” to the thematically appropriate “Back on the Train” closed the set. Phish then encored with the beloved “Fluffhead.”

Phish returns to Climate Pledge Arena this evening.
