On June 22, drummer Jon Fishman’s weekly Phish Radio program, The Errant Path on Sirius XM’s Phish Radio station, played two hours of music created by inspirational female artists. The episode debuted before the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and also touched on social and political issues related to women’s lives.
The playlist featured a range of artists and genres that touch on a variety of musical eras. From Loretta Lynn’s 1975 country tune “The Pill” to popular female anthems like Joan Jett’s 1980 classic “Bad Reputation,” Fishman’s playlist focuses on songs that evoke a sense of feminine empowerment and independence.
Other special tunes to grace the list include Digable Planets’ “La Femme Fetal,” Nirvana’s “Pennyroyal Tea,” and Brandi Carlile’s 2018 track, “The Mother.” As well as Roe Delgado, Da Fuchaman, Yam & Banana’s “Fyah Bun Dem” and Lauren Hills’ “To Zion” collaboration with Carlos Santana.
Sirius XM subscribers can listen to the episode here.
