The Disco Biscuits closed out their three-show stand at Morrison, CO’s Red Rocks with a three-set show yesterday. The group’s first set was a webcast-only afternoon crowdless offering that was streamed via bassist Marc Brownstein’s Lively site. The performance opened with the quartet’s first take on “Meditation” since September 23, 2009 and also nodded to some of the band’s classical influences with a run from “Stone” into “The Devil’s Waltz” and “The Overture.”

The group’s second set was an entirely segued segment, opening with “Spy” and moving into a bit of Guns N Roses’ “November Rain,” their classic “Little Betty Boop,” the first part of “Caterpillar,” “Miracles,” “Bombs” and the end of “Caterpillar.” (The Biscuits had not riffed on “November Rain” since December 29, 2014.)

Then, their second set was  also entirely segued as well, moving from “Mindless Dribble” into “Digital Buddha,” “Orch Theme” and “Kamaole Sands.” After a brief pause, they continued with “Shem-Rah Boo,” a Tractorbeam interlude based on the music of Todd Terje and, finally, their first cover of “I Know You Rider” since March 6, 2016. A fitting version of their sing-along “Home Again” closed the run.

The Disco Biscuits’ performance on Saturday also contained some rare song selections. During their first set, the quartet offered “M80” for the first time since June 10, 2010 and, during their second set, the band played the original version of former drummer Sam Altman’s “Sound One” since September 30, 2001 (though the tune has remained in rotation with a new ending in recent years.)

The Disco Biscuits will perform at New Haven, CT’s Westville Music Bowl this Friday.
