Banjoist Béla Fleck and Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté are set to release a duo LP titled The Ripple Effect on Mar. 27. Today, Feb. 21, they released a new song, “Kauonding Sissoko,” which appears on the upcoming record.

The Ripple Effect will be released as a part of Throw Down Your Heart: The Complete Africa Sessions, a 3-CD/1-DVD collection, which documents Béla’s travels across Africa to explore the banjo’s roots. The project includes the DVD of the 2009 documentary Throw Down Your Heart, plus “14 bonus performances and the 3x Grammy-winning albums Tales from the Acoustic Planet, Vol. 3—Africa Sessions and Africa Sessions Part 2: Unreleased Tracks.” (Press release.)

Béla Fleck recently spoke with Jambands.com writer and Relix associate editor Raffaela Kenny-Cincotta about the Flecktones, other upcoming projects and more. Check out that interview here.
