Yonder Mountain String Band was a visible presence at Telluride’s annual Bluegrass Festival this weekend. From Wednesday through Saturday, the group performed three different shows at three different venues throughout the popular resort town. On Wednesday, Yonder Mountain headlined the Telluride Conference Center Ballroom, inviting the Flecktones duo of Futureman and Jeff Coffin onstage for ‘Death Trip,’ ‘Good News Blues,’ ‘Girlfriend Is Better,’ ‘Steep Grade Sharp Curves’ and Holding.’ Bela Fleck and Jeff Coffin also recently joined Yonder Mountain onstage at the Wakarusa Music Festival and the two groups will hit the road together Friday as part of the Acoustic Planet tour.

After a day off, Yonder Mountain offered a two-set show at the Colorado town’s famed Sheridan Opera House, before clocking in time in Telluride’s Town Park. For its high-profile park set, Yonder invited out Drew Emmit on ‘Kentucky Mandolin’ and banjoist Danny Barnes for a set-closing version of ‘Angel.’ The group also offered a rare second encore of ‘Goodbye Blue Sky,’ a fitting close to its scenic show. Before kicking off the Acoustic Planet tour, Yonder Mountain String Band will appear at Salt Lake City, U’s Port O’ Call tomorrow.
