Gov’t Mule wrapped up their run with Chris Robinson Brotherhood with a show at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia after a mid-week show at Central Park’s Summerstage.

The first set was chalk full of highlights as Warren Haynes led the band through an early tribute to the late Chris Cornell with a take on Soundgarden’s “Fell On Black Days.” Mule routinely worked the Temple of the Dog cut “Hunger Strike” into sets over the years as well.

To close out the first set, Haynes welcomed out Chris Robinson and CRB guitarist Neal Casal, who joined Mule in Central Park along with Bruce Willis, for a cover of The Black Crowes’ “Sometimes Salvation.”

The encore featured a pair of special performances as the band delivered a stripped down version of Leonard Cohen’s somber ballad “Hallelujah” and the debut of the old blues standard “Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground” to close the show.
