Blue Floyd debuted in January 2000, with a line-up that featured Allen Woody, Matt Abts, Marc Ford, Johnny Neel and Berry Oakley Jr. The band’s initial intent was to ‘interpret the music of Pink Floyd through the idiom of the blues.’ Nearly nine months later Woody passed away and the group’s roster has transformed a bit over the intervening years. However, a new double-live disc captures the group shortly after it first came together. Blue Floyd Begins presents the band’s take on a number of Floyd classics including ‘Have A Cigar’ and ‘Money’ as well as a segue from ‘Interstellar Overdrive’ into ‘Wish You Were Here’ and a move from ‘Hey You’ into ‘Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2.’ The release also offers two tracks from BeatleJam which later drew together Abts, Neel and Oakley in a line-up that also included Audley Freed.
