The Allman Brothers Band will celebrate its 40th anniversary with another run of shows at New Yorks Beacon Theatre this spring. As in years past, the seminal group will bring a number of guests to the stage throughout its multi-night run, leaving many wondering whether or not estranged guitarist Dickey Betts will help celebrate the groups 40th. If the Allman Brothers Band plans to hit the Beacon in mid-March, then the answer appears to be no. Dickey Betts & Great Southern have confirmed their first round of 2009 appearances, including a run through the Midwest from March 12-21. Currently, the group plans to make stops in Milwaukee, Cleveland, OH, Chicago and Medina, MN with more dates likely on the way.
Meanwhile, the Beacon has announced its first round of performances since beginning an extensive renovation. Acts currently slated to appear in 2009 include Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin with Buddy Miller, Buddy Guy and B.B. King and even Thomas the Tank Engine.
