Phil Lesh, Bob Weir and Warren Haynes just wrapped up their performance at New York City’s Angel Orensanz. About 100 folks were estimated to be on hand for the show which opened with ‘Dire Wolf’ and featured a number of Garcia-Hunter compositions on which Garcia traditionally sang lead with the Grateful Dead. Lesh, Weir and Haynes traded verses on ‘Bird Song’ while Weir and Haynes later shared vocals on ‘Lazy River Road.’ Lesh led the group through his own ‘Pride of Cucamonga,’ while Weir made up for some lyric miscues on ‘Cumberland Blues’ with some solid picking. The set closed out with Haynes leading a sing-along version of ‘Casey Jones’ before the three returned for a ‘Ripple’ encore. Folks who want stay in touch with the action from two additional Dead performances this evening should check out the Relix/Jambands.com Twitter reports.
