On Thursday night, Greensky Bluegrass headlined Philadelphia’s The FIllmore. Near the end of the group’s first set, area native and Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Tom Hamilton emerged for a take on the original “Lose My Way.” Hamilton then remained on the stage as Greensky closed their set with a take on The Miracles’ Motown classic “Second That Emotion.”
The collaborations continued last night at Washington, DC’s The Anthem. Kitchen Dwellers supplied support duties and, at the start of Greensky’s encore, the members of the group joined the evening’s headliners for a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “No Expectations.” In other cover news, Greensky also riffed on Phish’s “Harry Hood” for the first time during their first set, jamming on the song and singing a verse.
Greensky Bluegrass will perform at Red Bank, NJ’s Count Basie Center for the Arts on February 11. Kitchen Dwellers will open. Meanwhile, Hamilton will appear at the Johnny Mercer Theatre in Savannah, GA on February 13 as part of JRAD. He will also open for Taper’s Choice at Boulder, CO’s Velvet Elk Lounge on February 21 and Denver, CO’s Cervantes’ Other Side on February 22. Hamilton recently sat in with Taper’s Choice at Brooklyn Bowl as part of Relix 50.
