Bob Dylan closed out his U.S. summer tour on Saturday night in Nashville. Over the course of the 34 shows (the Raleigh gig was canceled due to weather), Dylan cycled in a variety of guitarists. Bob Britt and Doug Lancio left the band in June, with Joel Paterson now appearing on most dates, while Julian Lage and Jad Tariq have shared the role as well.

The performance at the Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater featured Paterson and Lage along alongside Dylan, bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Anton Fig. Five songs into the set, the roster expanded as guitar player Jimmie Vaughan took the stage with the group for “False Prophet” from Dylan’s 2020 album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. Vaughan remained for a cover of “I Can Tell,” a Samuel Smith song long associated with Bo Diddley, which Dylan has been performing since 6/27/25. He later returned as the three J’s (Julian Lage, Joel Paterson and Jimmie Vaughan) shared guitar duties on “Goodbye Jimmy Reed,” another Rough and Rowdy Ways track.

Vaughan had been on hand to open the show with his Tilt-A-Whirl Band, sharing duties with Lucinda Williams.

Next up for Dylan is a European tour which opens in Norway on October 17.
