The Slip were slated to perform one of their rare reunion sets this past Saturday at the Northlands Music & Arts Festival in Swanzey, NH. However, the roster shifted slightly when the festival announced that due to a last minute scheduling conflict, Slip drummer Andrew Barr would not be able to attend the event.

Appearing in his stead was Joe Russo, who was on site for a performance later that evening with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. Russo joined guitarist Brad Barr and bassist Marc Friedman for an 8-song set during the afternoon.

The performance opened with “Children of December,” the opening track on The Slip’s 2006 studio album Eisenhower. That record also was the source of four additional tunes at Northlands: “Even Rats,” “If One of Us Should Fall,” “Paper Birds” and “The Original Blue Air.” The set also included “The Weight of Solomon,” a longtime fan favorite from the group’s 1997 debut From The Gecko as well as “Get Me With Fuji” from 2002’s Angels Come on Time.
