Sylvan Esso have returned with “Hot Slob,” their second single after a three-year pause. Beyond the follow-up to “WDID,” which landed as their first release on their Psychic Hotline record label in September, the Grammy-nominated electro-pop duo of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn have also stoked expectations for things to come with a 33-show live itinerary for this fall and next spring.

“Hot Slob” is a fireball of self-acceptance and adoration, and like the best of Sylvan Esso’s infectious and inspiring anthems, it drives at a desire that’s as thoughtful as it is carnal. Meath leads on vocals, freely giving inner thoughts like “Fuck it, yeah I’m phony, but I sell it like it’s something new,” while Sanborn’s bass gives the grounded track some elasticity. Bent guitar blares and feedback screech come courtesy of Jenn Wasner, aka Flock of Dimes, and TJ Waiani added tight snare snaps and crashing cymbals.

After a few summer festival bookings and a weeklong residency at Los Angeles’ Sid the Cat Auditorium from June 15-20, Sylvan Esso’s new tour dates will begin on Oct. 1 from Atlanta’s The Eastern. The duo and “their largest live iteration yet” will return to their North Carolina home base for two nights at Asheville’s The Orange Peel on Oct. 2 and 3, followed by a whistle stop at D.C.’s famed 9:30 Club before the second staging of their biennial Good Moon festival, bringing acts like Tyler Childers, Meshell Ndegeocello, MJ Lenderman and William Tyler & Yasmin Williams to Durham, N.C.’s Durham Performing Arts Center from Oct. 8-10. They’ll hit Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis and more on a nine-show run through Oct. 24, then return to the road for a West Coast and Southern leg from Feb. 19 to March 13.

Tickets for Sylvan Esso’s new tour dates will open to a pre-sale tomorrow, June 11 at 10 a.m. local time; a general on-sale will follow this Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. local time. Watch the music video for “Hot Slob” and see the duo’s full live itinerary below.
