Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms have been confirmed as performers in the upcoming season finale of American Idol. Before hitting the road on their second-annual co-headline tour, the ‘90s icons and jam-adjacent alt-rock innovators will take part in the three-hour special televised event, performing alongside some of this season’s finalists on Monday, May 11 at 8:00 p.m. ET. on ABC and Disney+. Other special guest performers confirmed for the finale include Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Cameron Whitcomb, Clay Aiken, En Vogue, Jason Mraz, Lee Ann Womack, Nelly, Shinedown and Tori Kelly.

From July 6 to Sept. 19, Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms will launch another expansive summer tour, following up on a celebrated season on the road last year with 35 shows across the country. Like last year, they’ll be supported by the recently revived Spin Doctors, who are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their debut album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite.

“It’s rare when a package feels so much like home that it carries a spirit which becomes tangible to an audience,” Blues Traveler frontman John Popper reflected. “That was the case — by all accounts — regarding our summer tour last year with Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms. We grew up with Spin Doctors as pups in the same litter… ours is a shared origin story. But working with Gin Blossoms was a first. Their music was everywhere when we were coming up, and yet only last summer did we have the opportunity to learn how fun it is playing with them — and to discover how much energy our three bands put out in combination. So, we’ve decided to take this show everywhere we missed last year. We’re excited to bring it to you.”
