The Hudson River Music Festival has unveiled the full artist lineup for its second annual staging. Following its memorable debut last June, the upstate event sustaining the legacy of Toshi and Pete Seeger’s folk picnics will return to Croton, N.Y.’s riverfront Croton Point Park on June 21, featuring a stacked bill of 14 acts from the worlds of jam, folk, country, funk and more.
The second Hudson River Music Festival will be helmed by Jess Welles, the socially engaged folk singer-songwriter carrying the torch of forebearers like Seeger and introducing new audiences to the transformative power of the activist musical tradition. After leading last year’s event with his supergroup tribute to the Grateful Dead, Grahame Lesh will return in an unprecedented trio configuration with regular collaborators Warren Haynes and Daniel Donato. Margo Price will bring her stirring and personal outlaw country stylings, Cimafunk will move the crowd with upbeat electro-funk and Texan trio Chaparelle will infuse country tradition with charming contemporary sensibilities.
Other key performers slated for the single-day celebration include Snachtime, Toshi Reagan, Ebony Hillbillies, Rising Appalachia’s Leah Song, Tom Chapin & the Chapin Sisters, Lizzie No and more. Presented in partnership by Riverfest FPS (For Pete’s Sake), Dayglo Presents and the Harper House Music Foundation, the event’s second staging will keep music, activism and community at its heart.
In the spirit of the Seegers’ ‘60s gatherings, which brought some of the region’s greatest folk talents to the bank of the Hudson to raise funds for the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Hudson River Music Festival promotes environmental justice through a zero-waste commitment and educational initiatives. The artists’ and activists’ memories live on in the Pete & Toshi’s Grove area, which honors the festival’s inspirations with a peaceful, empowering reprieve from the action.
An exclusive Relix pre-sale for the Hudson River Music Festival will run tomorrow, March 26, from 10 a.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET with code RELIXFAM. General on-sale will follow on Friday, March 27. Learn more about the festival at hudsonrivermusicfestival.com.
