In the midst of Maui’s ongoing shortage of medical professionals, a group of esteemed recording artists has come together in the name of community giveback and in response to the need. On Saturday, Jan. 10, Lōkahi: A Celebration of Maui will take place at the Alexander & Baldwin Amphitheatre in Kahului, Hawaii.
Topping the artist lineup and serving as host is Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lukas Nelson, whose father, the legendary Willie Nelson, resides part-time on the island. Also taking part in the imminent event is Paul Simon, who also shared that he will be returning to the road for “A Quiet Celebration” in Europe next year. Also on the list of 2026 performers are Stephen Wilson Jr., Lily Meola, Maui Country Band, and “Friends & Family.”
According to the ticket page, “Lōkahi: oneness, community, harmony, unity. Lōkahi is the Hawaiian word for people coming together to take care of one another, uniting as one. Join us as we come together as a community to share an amazing night under the stars with an incredible lineup of talent. Lukas Nelson’s vision for LŌKAHI was to create an evening of special performances and celebration with his Hawaiʻi music community. In the spirit of Lōkahi, uniting together to support your community, all net proceeds will benefit a local Maui charity, Housing for Healthcare.”
Word of next month’s charity concert trails Nelson’s other big announcement that arrived this week, the extension of his latest studio effort, American Romance. In a social post addressing the incoming new music from that LP’s studio sessions, Nelson detailed that on Friday, Dec. 12, he will drop American Romance, Too, and turn over new songs, “The Last Wild River” and “A Certain Someone.”
In the post, Nelson wrote, “I’ve never had more fun with an album than I had with American Romance.. The fact that people have loved it so much is such a gift to me, and being able to share this experience with my family, being nominated for a Grammy on the same bill as my father, gives me such a great sense of cosmic purpose, and I’m in awe of the way God works.”
Tickets for the charity concert are available now.
