Guster will complete the impressive feat of performing in all 50 states when they appear at Ninilchik, AK’s Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds on July 31 as part of the annual Salmonfest. The Boston-bred combo, who came together in 1991 during their freshman year of college at Tufts, spent three decades performing in the 48 contiguous states and checked Hawaii off their bucket list last year. Salmonfest will run from July 31-August 2, also featuring performances by Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, AJ Lee & Blue Summit and The Last Revel, among others.
In other news, Guster have confirmed a special run of acoustic shows at Providence, RI’s Uptown Theatre from May 1-3. The Providence Acoustic Weekend will mark a return to the group’s stripped-down roots while their write toward their 10th studio album, albeit with a string section. A note from the band reads, “Been off the road for a spell, Gusterrhoids, and it’s time to get back in the swing of playing music. We thought we’d ease our way in with a few nights at the Uptown Theater in Providence RI, playing some acoustic shows that dig into the discography. Will Guster even remember their own songs!? It’s a seated kind of thing. You’re sitting. We’re sitting. We’ll bring a string section.”
Jukebox the Ghost’s Ben Thornewill will open on May 1, Arc Iris’ Jocie Adams will support on May 2 and The Poison Tree’s Steve Salett will appear before the road on May 3. Guster will appear next at Stowe, VT’s Après Only on March 20 and 21.
