Umphrey’s McGee’s three-night run at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl continued last night. For the middle night of the run, Umphrey’s McGee offered a three-set show and invited out a few special guests. At the end of their second set, percussionist Andy Farag moved to the front of the stage to rap, and the ensemble brought out New York-based bassist Brady Watt for a cover of Snoop Dogg’s “Ain’t No Fun (If the Homies Can’t Have None).” (Watt, who is known for his YouTube bass videos, has a deep resume filled with hip-hop credits.) The fun cover marked the first time Umphrey’s McGee had played the tune since their May 26, 2018 show at Summer Camp; according to All things Umphrey’s, there was a 547 show gap between performances.

Then, a song into their third set, Umphrey’s McGee invited out lespecial’s Rory Dolan to play percussion on a version of “Mulche’s Odyssey” that included a prominent tease of The Rolling Stones’ “Start Me Up.” Umphrey’s closed out the set with a run from “Escape Goat” into “Draconia” and “1348,” as well as “Hangover.”

As previously reported, Umphrey’s McGee paid tribute to a number of musicians who have recently passed on Friday. Their Bowl run concludes this evening.
