The National Independent Talent Organization (NITO) and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund have joined forces to launch a charity auction. Through October 22, fans can bid on signed instruments from legends like Ringo Starr, the Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Jason Isbell, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. All proceeds will support NITO’s continued work to reform ticketing legislation, improve transparency from Performance Rights Organizations and advocate on behalf of equitable, independent music spaces against encroaching entertainment monopolies.
NITO and Sweet Relief’s auction boasts a total of 14 coveted items, with estimated values ranging from $2,500 to $30,000. The most eye-catching entries include Starr’s signed and peace sign-printed drum head; a Takamine acoustic guitar signed by the Eagles’ Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill; a pair of Gibson and Fender electric guitars signed by Tedeschi and Trucks; Bonnie Raitt’s signed and personalized Fender Stratocaster; a signed Epiphone acoustic guitar printed with the Weathervanes album cover form Jason Isbell; a Gold Tone mandolin singed by Sierra Hull, Ronnie McCoury and Sam Bush; and a Martin acoustic guitar signed by some of the biggest names in bluegrass, including Hull, Bush, Del McCoury, Alison Krauss, Rob McCoury, Ronnie McCoury, The Wood Brothers, Jerry Douglas, Ron Block, Barry Bales, Russell Moore and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s Bob Carpenter, Jimmy Fadden and Jeff Hanna.
“We are thrilled to partner with Sweet Relief on this upcoming auction,” said NITO Executive Director Nathaniel Marro in a release. “NITO has always been about supporting our artists first and foremost, so joining forces with Sweet Relief was a no-brainer. We want to thank all these amazing artists who have donated their time and instruments to this auction. The funds will be going to two great organizations pushing for a healthier music industry for everyone.”
“We’re grateful to the good folks at NITO for including us in this auction; our missions align perfectly as we both exist to serve the music industry,” said Sweet Relief Executive Director Aric Steinberg. “As always, thank you to the artists who are participating and thanks again to NITO for partnering with us to help provide a safety net for physical and mental health care for all.”
