As they roll into the final stretch of a long year on the road, moe. have unveiled the theme for their upcoming Halloween performances. On Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, the storied jam ensemble will join forces with progressive bluegrass giants The Infamous Stringdusters for a two-night stand at The Joy Theater in New Orleans; today, they’ve proclaimed that the engagement’s ordering theme will “Jamalot: A Quest for the Grail.”
“Here ye, brave souls and silly knights!,” an announcement video posted to the bands’ social feeds begins. “This Halloween, prepare to embark on a moe.st absurdly epic journey at Jamalot: A Quest for the Grail–an engagement like no other, where Monty Python collides with medieval mayhem, and the Holy Grail takes center stage (alongside some seriously legendary tunes).”
“Dress the part and join the revelry! Costumes inspired by the Holy Grail, Medieval Times, Renaissance Faires, and all things medieval are highly encouraged. Think knights of dubious valor, maidens of mysterious motives, plague cart peddlers, jesters, monks, and even the occasional shrubbery enthusiast. Whether you don chainmail, a crown, or just a coconuts-for-horses getup, you’ll be part of the royal court of fun.
“So polish your armor, dust off your goblet, and prepare for an evening of hot tunes, nonstop giggles, and ridiculous quests. After all, it’s not just a show–it’s a chance to join the round table of costumed camaraderie on a Halloween night like no other.”
moe. and The Infamous Stringdusters’ first night at The Joy Theater will follow the properly zany theme, while their follow-up will strip back the theatrics to show the bands doing what they do best: tirelessly advancing new sounds in jam music.
Before arriving in the Crescent City, moe. Will proceed through 12 headline dates across the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast, building to two sets at Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oak, Fla. on Oct. 30. After their Halloween event, the band will take a few weeks off before two nights at Boston’s The Wilbur and one at Somerville, Mass.’s Center for the Arts at the Armory from Nov. 20-22. Finally, to close out a triumphant year that marked their 35th anniversary and brought their 14th studio album, Circle of Giants, moe. will return to their old Albany, N.Y. stomping grounds for a New Year’s week show at the Palace Theatre on Dec. 27.
