On July 25, Bob Dylan resumed his role on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Country Tour. The Minnesota-bred bard had previously participated in the Nelson-hosted early summer jaunt and rejoined the rotating lineup for its most recent pick-up of dates. During opening night, this past Friday, Dylan returned to a pair of beloved songs that had emerged as tour debuts, cementing the tracks’ placements within the musician’s setlist.

Following the same setlist trajectory as his previous concert on July 6 and its predecessors, Dylan sought an entry on “Gotta Serve Somebody,” before following up with Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell.” Prior to inserting the next batch of originals, the artist and his backing band worked through George “Wild Child” Butler’s “Axe and the Wind.” After offering renditions of “To Ramona” and “Early Roman Kings,” Dylan stepped to the center of the stage, singing and playing harmonica during “Under the Red Sky,” a rare move for the musician who is typically seated or standing at the piano.

The acclaimed artist continued his single set performance by covering Charlie Rich’s “I’ll Make It Up To You,” and positioned fan favorites “All Along the Watchtower” next, ultimately breaking into offerings of “‘Till I Fell in Love With You,” and “Desolation Row.” Like his approach to “Under the Red Skies,” Dylan and his harmonica returned to stage center for the Time Out of Mind cut, “Love Sick.” A take on Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “Share Your Love with Me” previewed a tour debut and a bust out of “Positively 4th Street,” last played on Sept. 23, 2023, during the musician’s Farm Aid appearance.

Like the previous number, Dylan offered another tour debut, this time “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.” The Blonde on Blonde staple emerged for the first time since September 17, 2024. Before ending his live performance in the Peach State, the artist positioned one final number, “Don’t This Twice, It’s All Right,” in the set’s final slot. During the bard’s ensuing performances on Saturday, July 26, in Charlotte, N.C., and Sunday, July 27, in Raleigh, N.C., Dylan unleashed nearly the same set of music, including reemergences of “Positively 4th Street” and “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35.”

Following the weekend’s live shows, Dylan will continue his Outlaw Music Festival trajectory tomorrow night, Tuesday, July 29, in Virginia Beach, Va. Tickets remain on sale.
