Over the weekend, Taper’s Choice returned to Colorado for a pair of headlining shows. Friday’s gig, their first in the Centennial State since 2022, took place at Boulder, CO’s Velvet Elk Lounge. Joe Russo’s Almost Dead guitarist Tom Hamilton opened the gig with a solo set and joined the evening’s headliners for their debut take on The Doors’ “Five to One” at the end of the group’s second set.

Then, last night, Taper’s Choice appeared at Cervantes Other Side in Denver. Hamilton, who first sat in with the quartet at Brooklyn, NY’s Brooklyn Bowl as part of Relix 50 in January, opened once again and joined Taper’s for another Doors tune, the 1967 cut “When The Music’s Over.” (Of note, also on Saturday, Tyler Ballgame sat in with Eggy on The Doors’ “LA Woman” in Los Angeles; Taper’s took to social media after and wrote, “See this not as a sign of third tier nu-jam rivalry – but as utter synchronicity and love. Macro dosing.)

Taper’s Choice will perform at West Hollywood, CA’s Troubadour on April 24. The gig, which takes place a night before Phish kick off their upcoming run at The Hollywood Bowl, is their second appearance at the famed venue this year. Hamilton, meanwhile, will open for Railroad Earth at Asbury Park, NJ’s Asbury Lanes on March 20.
