On Sept. 17, “Musicians for Kamala” will unite a stacked lineup of artists, elected representatives, music industry figureheads and passionate fans in a show of support for Kamala Harris’ Presidential bid. The National Voter Registration Day livestream event–which evolved from a vision passed around a small circle to a national grassroots initiative–will include performances and messages to drive donations and voter turnout for this critical election.

“Musicians for Kamala” is an all-volunteer endeavor produced by industry leaders and campaign veterans and partnered with the Harris-Walz campaign and The Harris Victory Fund. Among the litany of high-profile guests to present are confirmed artists Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne, Moby, Mickey Guyton, Todrick Hall, Qveen Herby, Bootsy Collins and Barack Obama’s “HOPE” poster designer Shepard Fairey. The program will be hosted by acclaimed radio host and music journalist Nic Harcourt, who is known for his hand in breaking icons like Coldplay, Norah Jones, Adele, Arctic Monkeys and Sigur Ros.

The event’s concept originated with music professionals Jacob Tell, Erik Koral and John Lucchetti, who saw the wave of support generated by the “Dead Heads for Kamala” event and sought a means to further mobilize the transformative power of art to effect positive social change. Before long, the growing cohort of volunteers was connected with Highland Park, Ill. Mayor Nancy Rotering and the Harris-Walz campaign. Jeff Atlas joined next, bringing his experience producing three Democratic National Conventions and President Joe Biden’s 2021 Inauguration. Other project leaders include Shelly Hartman, Michelle Willrich, Philip D’Amour, Anthony Samu and Ta’Nai Cie Drayton.

On the star-studded benefit, Oniracom CEO and day-one organizer Tell offered, “Our team came together quickly from all parts of the music industry, showcasing how important this election is despite demographics or psychographics. We believe in music’s universal power to drive change, and we’re proud to support the Harris-Walz campaign. As soon as word spread, musicians and industry experts nationwide reached out to help.”

“Musicians for Kamala” is about more than a great show. Through three hours of focused programming, virtual attendees will be inspired by heartfelt testimonies and soul-stirring performances and unified in a movement to passionately pursue progress this election season.
