This fall, Los Angeles’ Kia Forum will present a tribute to the life and legacy of The Band’s legendary frontman and principal songwriter, Robbie Robertson. To properly honor the iconic artist’s achievements, the event has tapped a star-studded lineup of venerable musicians, including Eric Clapton, Trey Anastasio, Bobby Weir, Van Morrison, and Mavis Staples, among many more.

Life is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson will come to life on Thursday, October 17 via a producing team led by Martin Scorsese, who famously captured the group’s fond farewell to the stage in 1976 with The Last Waltz. Other executive producers helming the project are Jared Levine, Keith Wortman and Scooter Weintraub, who also respectively produced 2019’s Once Were Brothers, 2023’s Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 and 2022’s Eric Clapton: Nothing But the Blues. The one-night-only program will be presented by Blackbird Presents, Live Nation, Citi, and Woodland Cultural Centre.

The artist lineup for Life is a Canival ranks among the most impressive assembled in recent memory, collecting a veritable dream team of artists from across generations and genres, united in some stylistic or personal relation to Robertson. Beyond scene favorites Clapton, Anastasio, Weir, Morrison and Staples, the event will feature performances from such high-profile players as Warren Haynes, Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Jim James, Mike Campbell, Allison Russell and Taj Mahal. Other celebrated players like Bruce Hornsby, Noah Kahan, Eric Church, Margo Price, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Benmont Tench, Jamey Johnson, Ryan Bingham, Daniel Lanois and Blue Note label head Don Was will round out the bill.

Presale for Life is a Carnival will begin tomorrow, July 31 at 10 a.m. PT.; fans can secure tickets with code ROBBIE. General on-sale begins Friday, Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. PT. For more information on the event, visit blackbirdpresents.com.
