Today, musician and activist Billy Bragg announced a massive North American run, The Roaring Forty Tour. The extensive outing is slated to pick up on July 18 at The Suffolk in Riverhead, N.Y., before a follow-up at the newly reopened and historic Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock, N.Y. The impending jaunt serves various purposes: marking Bragg’s compilation LP distribution, which was released under the same name as the tour, recalling his own 40-year history, and aligning the impending tour dates with the onset of the U.S. presidential election.

After closing out his time in Woodstock, Bragg will continue traversing the East Coast, performing at Buffalo, N.Y.’s Town Ballroom on July 20, followed by an evening in Pittsburgh, before ensuing Northeastern engagements in Northampton, Mass., Portland, Maine, and Newport, R.I. August will see the artist take on previously announced gigs (primarily in Europe) before Bragg returns to the U.S., for mid to late-September tour leg on the West Coast.

Bragg will pick up the final chapter of his North American excursion on October 3 at Boulder, Colo.’s Chautauqua Auditorium, with ensuing Midwest dates slated for Minneapolis, Madison, Wis., Chicago, and Detroit. Dipping up to The Great White North, Bragg will play Masey Hall in Toronto on Oct. 11, prior to the final East Coast dates.

Dropping back down to the U.S., the musician will turn up at the Kodak Center in Rochester, N.Y., followed by an evening in Philadelphia, which preludes his New York City stand at Webster Hall on Oct. 18, and a pair of Washinton, D.C. performance, at two separate venues, The Atlantis (Oct. 19) and 9:30 Club (Oct. 20). Fittingly, Bragg’s D.C. descent will arrive mere weeks before the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Notably, the artist is known for his opposition to racism, fascism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism, and far-right groups in his native Britain.
