On June 1, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, Calif. The performance arrived after the group opened their two-night stand the evening prior, May 31. For TTB’s Saturday follow-up, they were warmed up and ready to enchant their Bay Area audience again; from the first note, it was clear that they were seeking to entice, with Susan Tedeschi stepping out with Jerry Garcia’s esteemed “Alligator” 1955 Fender Stratocaster. Later, the group debuted a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Money Man” before welcoming members of Little Feat during the night’s encore.

From the first bit of “Statesboro Blues,” featuring Tedeschi’s complimentary riffs on the legendary Garcia-owned guitar, the band was on a mission to dispatch a memorable experience for those in attendance. Blind Willie McTell’s original song gave way to a series of TTB originals: “Let Me Get By,” “Part of Me” and “Hear My Dear.” Rather than stick with the motif, they pivoted, adding the night’s debut next, a take on The Rolling Stones’ 1969 originator, “Monkey Man.”

Sticking with covers and in part recognizing their location, the band delivered a take on the Grateful Dead’s “Mr. Charlie,” complimented by the precision of Derek’s esteemed instrumentation and his wife’s bluesy vocals. Mind Made Up tune “Do I Look Worried” gave way to a pairing of “Shame” and Blind Joe Reynolds’ “Outside Woman Blues.” Before a launch into encores, TTB added “Bound for Glory,” “Midnight in Harlem,” and “Yes We Will” before the evening’s final original, “Ain’t That Something,” off their latest studio set, I Am The Moon.

For the final song of the main frame, the band added Mathew Moore’s “Space Captain,” ultimately returning for the night’s encore next, which began with a cover of Mike Reid’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” which fully accentuated Tedeschi’s vocal range. Members of Little Feat, who have been on the road with TTB and opening select concerts, joined their hosts next, adding to covers, including Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk” and the event’s final, Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery.” Watch a fan-shot video below.

After closing out their weekend concerts, the band announced a new leg of Deuces Wild concerts today, June 3, expanding their current run with a Southern-heavy roster of gigs after the initial newly announced performance slated for Oct. 3 in Providence, R.I. Following the stop above, the group will perform a pair of shows at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans (Nov. 1-2), before an ensuing stand in Chattanooga, Tenn. The band will tack on five North Carolina stops before closing the new leg with performances at Atlanta’s The Fox (Nov. 15-16). Select dates will include help from Duane Betts and Maggie Rose.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 7, at 10 a.m. local time.
