Mountain Grass Unit, the rapidly rising jamgrass trio out of Birmingham, Ala., have announced a massive summer tour. Following the release of its eagerly-anticipated EP–produced by Mike Harris of Old Crow Medicine Show–later this spring, the group will embark on an exhaustive run through the US from April 5 to September 21. With this venture, the exciting outfit, composed of mandolinist Drury Anderson, guitarist and banjoist Luke Black and upright bassist Sam Wilson, will bring its distinctive brand of high-energy, boundary-crossing, virtuosic Americana to 44 new crowds across the country’s South, West, and Central regions.

Mountain Grass Unit will kick off its ambitious tour on April 5 with a performance at New Orleans’ Hogs For The Cause benefit festival, sharing a bill with artists like Band of Horses, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Shane Smith & The Saints and Eggy, then hop to Atlanta to join the latter jam combo at the similarly mission-oriented Mental Awakening on April 6. After the lights go down, the group will run up the coast, making stops in Asheville, N.C. and at Axton, Va.’s Rooster Walk Festival en route to Delfest, Cumberland, Md.’s all-star bluegrass celebration set for May 25 and 26. Mountain Grass Unit will make three further Southeast stops, culminating with a home-state show at Dothan, Ala.’s The Pavilion at Dothan Nursery on May 30, before a five-show trek from the Mountain West, to the Midwest, to the Pacific Northwest on June 2-15.

After four shows in Washington and Oregon from June 17-22, the band will make five stops in the Golden State, building to a presentation at Quincy, Calif.’s High Sierra Music Festival on July 5 and 6. Next, the group will move to the Midwest for an eight-show string, beginning with a set at St. Clair, Mo.’s Pickin’ on Picknic on July 12. As August rolls in, Mountain Grass Unit will return to the Southeast for four evenings, including an August 3 show at Nashville, Tenn.’s Cannery Hall, before a final three-show leg in Texas from August 13-15. Finally, following one last headline performance at Oxford, Mich.’s Proud Larry’s on August 17, the band will conclude its sprawling 2024 tour with a set at Louisville, Ky.’s Bourbon & Beyond Festival on September 21.

On the band’s upcoming tour, Anderson has shared, “We are more than excited to get things kicked off once again this Summer. After last year’s summer tour, we are super stoked to see faces in the crowd again all over the country.”
