After a two-year hiatus from Spotify, folk veteran and fan favorite Joni Mitchell has returned her extensive discography to the music-stream platform. The move follows Neil Young’s decision to relinquish his repertoire to the site after a prolonged break resulting from disapproval of Spotify’s deal with Joe Rogan, who offered controversial misinformation during the pandemic’s peak.

Without a word from the artist, Mitchell’s catalog quietly reappeared on Friday morning, March 22. The artist’s decision to grant lovers of her catalog reentry following a two-year protest of the app ultimately heightened fan excitement upon regaining access to classics like Court and Spark, Blue, Clouds, For the Roses, and others. The artist’s return allows listeners to once again listen in full or jump around the singer-songwriter’s archive at the tap of a finger.

Mitchell’s music disappeared from Spotify in January 2022 in a protest move sparked by friend and fellow legend Young. Both Canadian musicians’ reappearance is likely ignited by the fact that Rogan no longer holds an exclusive contract with Spotify, appearing on Apple Podcast, YouTube, and Amazon Music.
