On March 9, Greensky Bluegrass closed its Winter Tour 2024 with a final stand at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. After Friday’s action-packed delivery, the band continued the trend into the weekend, bringing some new faces to the stage. During Saturday’s initial frame, the Michigan-formed ensemble welcomed Jennifer Hartswick of the Trey Anastasio Band to assist with choice numbers. More guests followed during the second set, including Jarrod Walker and Billy Strings–the latter also appeared as a guest on Friday, March 8.

Greensky Bluegrass started their Saturday night stand at the Mother Church sans guests, ruminating in season material before briefly stepping out of the jamgrass trance only to reenter with an added guest: Hartswick, who effectively added trumpet and vocals on Billy Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine,” which also represented a bust out for the headliners, who last covered the song on Oct. 2, 2019. Next, with Hartwick’s assistance, the collective of musicians worked through “New & Improved.”

Following the conclusion of the aforementioned number, Hartswick left the stage, and the billed artists played through “Windshield” and “Run or Die,” which merged into the night’s set break. The band then returned to their spots, starting the latter frame on “Leap Year” before the ensuing arrival of Strings. With the night’s second guest on stage, the unit of artists worked through “Fixin to Ruin,” with added riffs from Strings, who would remain on stage the entirety of the second set.

Strings’ Saturday sit-in came in the form of added guitar on “The Radio Blues,” “ Screams,” “Monuments,” and a partial “Don’t Lie”  before the arrival of another guest, Strings bandmate  and mandolist Walker to assist on their own cut, “Meet Me at the Creek.” Before the previous song merged back into “Don’t Lie,” Walker took a bow, leaving the Greensky Bluegrass and Strings to ricochet between the pair of final numbers. For the last song of the night, just the billed band returned for one finale debut, a cover of Tom Petty’s “Time to Move On.”
