Last night, Mar. 1, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the Beacon Theatre for the second show in its three-night stand at the storied venue. Building from an electrifying start the day before, the band kept the crowd at a roar by paying tribute to the Allman Brothers Band’s history on the New York stage through a series of their standards. This engagement’s setlist also featured the Grateful Dead’s classic “Mr. Charlie,” marking a debut treatment for the blues-rock ensemble.

TTB kicked off its performance with 2016’s “Anyhow,” among the band’s most popular tracks, then followed with two more originals before “Done Somebody Wrong,” an electric blues standard penned by Eddie Kirkland before its inclusion on the Allman Brothers Band’s iconic At Filmore East established a lasting and overwhelming associating with the band. After playing its 2022 song “Emmaline,” the band moved into its first performance of “Mr. Charlie,” famously recorded on Europe ‘72; while Derek and Susan have previously presented this song elsewhere, including shared stages with Dead Ahead and Phil Lesh and Friends, this marked its first staging with the full Tedeschi Trucks Band. To close the first set, the group played “Yes We Will” and “Idle Wind,” the latter of which featured a tease of The Derek Trucks Band’s “Maki Madni.”

The ensemble returned to the stage with Bruce Springsteen’s “State Trooper,” debuted during its Feb. 17 performance at Atlantic City’s Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena. This second frame featured further covers, including Derek and the Dominoes’ “Keep on Growing,” Sleepy John Estes’ “Leaving Trunk” and Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery” before TTB took on the Allman Brothers’ “Come and Go Blues,” once again saluting the band’s legacy of more than 230 performances at the venue. After Susan’s seminal “Just Won’t Burn,” which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, the group moved on to “Made Up Mind” and finally brought the evening to its conclusion with an encore of “Bound For Glory.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to the stage tonight for the final show in its first March series at the Beacon Theatre. Read about the band’s opening night performance here and read on for Friday’s complete setlist.
