Last night, Dec. 9, Goose continued their seasonal tradition and returned to the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va., for night two of Goosemas. The follow-up to night one’s cosmic production, Saturday’s display boasted an array of first-time plays from various contemporary and classic acts. Also adding to the specialty of the occasion was an appearance by Bruce Hornsby, who sat in toward the end of the second set.

Goosemas night two picked up with “Pancakes” into “Doobie Song,” eventually unfolding into a debut of Post Malone’s 2019 track “Circles.” New material continued on Nena’s farmed “99 Red Balloons.” The new wave classic gave way to the unfinished “Pancake” opener. After a momentary pause, the frame resumed on a first-time play of “Big Blue,” a Vampire Weekend number originating from Father of the Bride

Goose jammed through “Dripfield,” which included a taste of “Animal” a la Rick Mitarotonda. The title track off their 2022 set was left unfinished, and the band turned toward an ensuing “Red Bird,” paired with the final song of set one, a debut of John Kellette’s famed song, “I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles.” Following a break from the stage, the members of Goose took their places for the latter half of the night, starting with a first-time cover of Electric Light Orchestra’s “Jungle.”

Bridging the first and second sets, Goose reprised the night’s earlier tease of “Animal.” A sped-up rendition of “Echo of a Rose” merged into a debut of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Run Through the Jungle.” The aforementioned cover merged back into “Echo of a Rose,” making for a sandwiched display of Radio Arrow tune, placed between a parsed original. A high point of the night occurred with the arrival of Hornsby, who led the band through his own song, the 1986 released “The Way It Is,” providing keys and vocals, respectively.

Following the evening sit-in, Goose continued their latter frame on “The Empress Of Organos.” Next, they picked another new song: a fiery take on the Kool & The Gang’s disco-era classic, “Jungle Boogie.” During the first-ever play by this group of musicians, Jeff Arevalo picked up the guitar, and Peter Anspach took on Mitarotonda’s earlier teases of “Animal.” The previous song rolled into a continued take on “The Empress Of Organos” to end the second set.

For the night’s encore, Goose took the stage one final time, performing “Arcadia,” which saw Anspach still feeling the second frame and adding notes of “Jungle Boogie.” With Goosemas in the books, the band has shared a video from last night’s concert, watch below.
