The New York City club Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 will close on December 4. The 175-person capacity opened in 2010 in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and has been a favorite on the folk, bluegrass, indie and jam scenes for the past 13 years. Earlier this year, the venue hosted a series of fundraisers to help keep the club open, including shows by Chris Thile & Michael Daves, Sara Bareilles and The Low Anthem, who were the first group to appear on the venue’s stage when it originally opened.

The club’s owners announced that they plan to focus their attention on their original Rockwood Music Hall Stage 1, which holds 50 people and has been operational since 2005, going forward. Earlier this year the club closed two other venues located in the Rockwood Music Hall complex, Stage 3 and its bar space. They are also opening a Rockwood in Boston.

The venue’s final acts will be confirmed shortly. Meïa Santiago, Craig Greenberg and Alice Celeste are slated to appear on Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2 on December 3.
