Last night, Trey Anastasio Trio took the stage for their final night at Denver’s Mission Ballroom. Like the rest of the run, the show featured a dynamic setlist, including a mix of beloved classics, debuts and the first live performance of a song only heard before at the Beacon Jams.
The first set kicked off with the crowd buzzing in anticipation as the band launched into “Shaking Someone’s Outstretched Hand,” marking its first-ever public performance since its Oct. 23, 2020, Beacon Jam debut. This rare treat set the tone for an evening filled with surprises and musical prowess. The trio continued to captivate the audience with “Hey Stranger,” “Blazing Down the Twisted Wire,” and the energetic “Llama.”
As the set progressed, the band transitioned into “No Men In No Man’s Land,” a fan favorite that had the crowd grooving along. They followed it up with “Roll Like a River” before the atmosphere evolved into a celebration with”Party Time,” bringing an upbeat and celebratory energy to the room. The trio demonstrated their versatility with “Evolve” and “The Silver Light,” showcasing their ability to explore different musical styles and textures. The set reached its peak with “Stealing Time From the Faulty Plan,” an exhilarating song that had the audience fully engaged and singing along.
After a brief intermission, the second set commenced with the infectious groove of “Gotta Jibboo.” The band then unveiled two pairs of debuts: “Broken Into Pieces,” followed by the atmospheric “Flying Blind” and “Valdise” and “Splinters of Hail,” the two couplings were split by a jam-filled “Wolfman’s Brother.” They transitioned seamlessly into “Ocelot,” a fan-favorite from Trey Anastasio’s solo repertoire, before delivering a soulful rendition of “Heavy Things.”
The mood turned introspective with “Lonely Trip” before it culminated in a triumphant performance of “Everything’s Right,” leaving the crowd in awe of the band’s musical chemistry and improvisational skills.
For the encore, the trio returned to the stage with a rocking “Carini,” which ignited a final burst of energy and excitement, capping off a weekend of material and memories that surely left an indelible mark on the Denver audience.
