On June 9, Darkside will drop their latest culmination of loose and spirited jams via Matador. Dubbed Live at Spiral House, the collection of new music arrives after an eight-year hiatus for the ensemble, which consists of Dave Harrington and Nicolás Jaar as well as Tlacael Esparza. Along with the news of fresh tunes, the group also shared a short documentary on the making of the LP.

The video, titled Spiral House Video, captures the band’s residency at a Los Angeles rehearsal space that they nicknamed the Spiral House. “When we decided to get the band back together with Tlac, we knew we needed a space where we could explore what that meant. After a couple of months of rehearsals, we started inviting friends and family to the space and many of these recordings share the fun and cozy spirit of that time,” offered Jaar via press release.

Harrington added a comment on the space while weaving in other musical influences and the songs which permeated the premises during the making of  Live at Spiral House, “I probably played every Jerry Garcia riff I know in every key over the course of Spiral House. You’d be surprised how good ‘China Cat Sunflower’ sounds on ‘Narrow Road’!”

Jed DeMoss, the artist behind Live at Spiral House photography/cover art, also documented the guy’s summer in their make-shift studio, which resulted in the five-and-a-half-minute video. In addition, DeMoss assisted with creating sound recordings on this collection alongside fellow artist and videographer Will Carrà.

Apart from today’s announcement, the band is currently on tour in Europe, where they are scheduled to perform two sold-out shows beginning tonight in Paris. From there, they’ll make festival appearances prior to additional gigs in The U.K. For more information on the band’s current tour, visit their website
