On the second night of their exhilarating performances at The Caverns in Pelham, Tenn., King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard delivered a wild high-octane show filled with mind-bending psychedelic rock and explosive energy. The band treated their fans to an array of songs spanning their discography, creating an otherworldly experience that left the audience in awe, including the debut of their song “Astroturf.”

The set began with a mesmerizing rendition of “I’m in Your Mind,” the opening track from their critically acclaimed album I’m in Your Mind Fuzz. Without skipping a beat, they seamlessly transitioned into the title track of “I’m Not in Your Mind,” a trippy and exhilarating pairing that continued to elevate the atmosphere. The crowd’s energy surged as the band dived into “Cellophane,” showcasing their dynamic range and ability to shift from infectious grooves to explosive climaxes before they revisited their opening theme by returning to “I’m in Your Mind Fuzz.” The extended version of the song took the audience on a psychedelic journey, complete with swirling guitars, pulsating basslines, and mind-altering visuals.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard then delved into “Planet,” a cosmic odyssey that showcased their experimental side, which unfolded into the ethereal melodies and intricate layers of instrumentation found on “Predator X. The intensity continued to escalate with “Converge,” then “Converge” and “This Thing.”

As the evening progressed, King Gizzard showcased their versatility with “Magenta Mountain.” The song seamlessly blended elements of jazz, funk, and rock, creating a sonic tapestry that was as adventurous as it was infectious. The haunting melody of “The Grim Reaper” followed, captivating the crowd with its haunting atmosphere and intricate arrangements, which had a tease of “Sadie Sorceress.”

Adding to the excitement, the band presented a live debut performance of “Astroturf” from their 2022 LP Changes. Its driving rhythm, infectious hooks, and captivating lyrics solidified its place as a crowd favorite. “The Garden Goblin” continued to captivate the crowd with its infectious energy and catchy melodies. The song inspired wild dancing and enthusiastic sing-alongs, creating an atmosphere of pure joy.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard then delved into “Ice V” before the thunderous “Doom City,” which melded into “Automation,” complete with intricate time signatures and hypnotic melodies. The band’s impeccable musicianship was on full display as they flawlessly executed the complex composition.

Continuing their sonic journey, the Australian ensemble ventured into “Billabong Valley,” the high-octane track that fused elements of surf rock with their signature psychedelic sound served as the show’s penultimate song. The crowd’s energy surged as they sang along to the infectious chorus and rode the wave of their sonic onslaught. Finally, the band closed the show with a powerful rendition of “K.G.L.W.,” a fan-favorite anthem that has become synonymous with their live performances. The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as the band unleashed their final surge of energy, leaving everyone in awe of their musical prowess.
