After kicking off their 2023 tour in support of Bloom & Recede on Jan. 21 in Philadelphia, Lotus continued their run with a performance at Higher Ground Music Hall in Burlington, Vt. on Jan. 25. The Green Mountain State gig included a sit-in by Dopapod’s Rob Compa, a bust out of “Awake” in addition to a run-through of “Mikesnack,” which saw the group’s newest member, Tim Palmeri, assist on the Escape Sargasso Sea tune for the first time.

The midweek performance got underway with “Middle Road” and “Bellwether” before going into a cover of Tycho’s “Awake,” a number the band had not performed since a Sept. 22, 2018 show at The Mishawaka in Bellvue, Colo. Then, they continued by running through “Pluck” off their 2022 drop. The night’s initial set brought forth a rendition of “Spiritualize” next, before closing the frame on “Hammerstrike.”

Set two saw Compa take the stage and assist on “Time Dilates.” The billed performers continued the second half of their concert by cutting into a cover of Todd Terje’s “Inspector Norse” that flowed into “Plant Your Roots” before continuing into a reprise of “Inspector Norse.” A notable moment occurred next as Palmeri jammed through “Mikesnack” for the first time. The previously mentioned song flowed into a take on The Bee Gee’s “You Should Be Dancing,” paired with “Juggernaut” to cap the frame.

For the night’s encore, Lotus reemerged and delivered “Land of the Lush” to end their time in Burlington, Vt. Scroll down to view the complete setlist from Lotus’ Jan. 25 gig at Higher Ground Music Hall.
