On Feb. 25, a collective of musicians will ensemble to pay tribute to an influential figure in New Orleans rhythm and blues, the late-Allen Toussaint. The single night of Big Easy verve will occur at Ardmore Music Hall, approximately 12 miles outside of Philadelphia.
The one-off event will see an all-star frame with contributions from The Meter’s George Porter Jr., Widespread Panic’s John “JoJo” Hermann, second-generation player Johnny Kimock, Cris Jacobs, Maggie Koerner, in addition to The Rebirth Horns.
Before starting the previously mentioned musical set, the Frazier brothers formed Rebirth Brass Band will deliver their frame of music before members disassemble and assist with the night’s latter tribute set.
VIP options are available for folks interested in adding a little more to their experience. It includes early entry to the venue and access to a curated Crescent City menu, which features regional dishes that beckon back to The Big Easy.
Fans might recall that on Nov. 23, Porter, along with an intimate cast of musicians, performed numbers from Toussaint’s legendary songbook as a part of the With You In Mind series at the fabled Tipitina’s live music venue.
