Phil Lesh & Friends announced a set of shows at San Francisco’s The Warfield. The newly revealed gigs are slated for Dec. 27 and 28 and will serve as the 100th birthday celebration for the favored live music venue with deep ties to the Grateful Dead.

The first night of the highly anticipated stand will see the bass legend joined by his son Grahame Lesh, as well as fellow collaborators Rick Mitarotonda, Jennifer Hartswick, James Casey, Natalie Cressman, Holly Bowling and John Molo. Then, on Dec. 28, the lineup will slightly shift when Jason Crosby takes the place of Bowling, who will not partake in the second night of music.

The Warfield began as a vaudeville theatre in the 1920s and saw great early performances by folks like Louis Armstrong and Charlie Chaplin. A renaissance came in 1979 when Bob Dylan performed a 14-show residency as a part of his Gospel Tour. By 1980 the Grateful Dead dominated stage time and made the theater a home of sorts with unique ties to their local fan base.

With a piece of Grateful Dead history attached to the storied venue, it makes sense that Lesh would take the stage and mark the 100th-anniversary occasion. Tickets for Phil Lesh & Friends’ two-night stand at The Warfield go on sale Thursday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.
