Over the weekend, Broken Social Scene brought their You Forgot It In People 20th Anniversary tour to New York’s Webster Hall in the East Village. The Canadian-bred ensemble arrived in the Big Apple on Friday, Oct. 15, where they worked through a 17-song setlist. After night one, they returned to the stage on Saturday and welcomed Meryl Streep and Tracey Ullman, who assisted with the lyrics on the fan-favorite “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl.”
As first reported on Consequence of Sound, Broken Social Scene frontman Kevin Drew invited Ullman to the concert after a New York City meeting. As a result, the British-born actress extended the invitation to Streep, who showed up and helped with the lyrics to “Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl,” which initially appeared on the band’s 2002 album, You Forgot It in the People, for which the tour is named and celebrates.
